Peer Voices United delivers the Wellness-to-Workforce pathway that trains and prepares Peer Support Specialists across six specialized workforce domains: Justice-Involved Reentry, Restorative Justice, Hoarding Disorder Support, Native Community Peer Support, School-Based Gang and Drug Prevention, and Youth Gang Intervention. PVU brings the lived-experience engagement, wellness supports, supervised service environments, and community-based recruitment pipelines that prepare individuals who have historically faced barriers to employment for careers as credentialed Peer Support Specialists. Through PVU programs including Road Home, Room for Hope, and Hands of Hope, participants move from wellness into structured workforce readiness, gaining the foundation that a HUMANDREAM Workforce Alliance Peer Support Scholar career pathway is built upon.
The Public Health Scholars Program at Long Beach City College is a student-centered, opportunity driven initiative led by the Public Health Program in collaboration with the Office of Workforce Development and supported by college-wide student success efforts. Designed for students exploring or pursuing careers in public health, healthcare, and human services, the program prioritizes equitable access for disproportionately impacted students, including those facing systemic barriers to education, employment, and advancement.
Through a distinctive combination of access to Community Care models and peer-support learning
resources, students gain invaluable real-world experience while tackling critical community mental
health and social service resource distribution issues. They collaborate with local organizations, clinics, schools, and public agencies to translate their classroom learning into impactful, equity-driven
public health initiatives and advocacy efforts aimed at addressing mental and public health challenges.
