WHO WE ARE

Where lived experience becomes a career in health

HUMANDREAM Workforce Alliance (HWA) is a workforce development nonprofit dedicated to underserved and system-impacted youth and communities, working to improve health outcomes and expand access to care. HWA trains and credentials Community Health Workers and Peer Support Specialists for long-term job placements at FQHCs, nonprofit hospitals, community-based organizations, county behavioral health agencies, school-based programs, and reentry organizations. We serve as the intermediary between these placement sites and our Scholars, ensuring they are fully supported, integrated, and supervised as valued members of the health care team.

Peer Workforce for the Populations Most Programs Cannot Reach

Our Scholars translate lived experience into certified competencies across high-impact community health, justice diversion, and specialized behavioral health practice areas.

Peer Support Specialists

The Wellness-to-Workforce

Traditional workforce systems train, place, and hope people stay employed. The Peer Support Specialists pathway begins with people who may have lived experience of incarceration, behavioral health challenges, substance-use recovery, housing instability, poverty, or other barriers. Instead of asking them to become “job ready” in isolation, PVU surrounds employment preparation with peer support, mentoring, recovery principles, practical training, meaningful paid work, credential opportunities, and a path toward long-term employment or entrepreneurship.
